How to Build Online Sections

This guide explains how to build online class sections in CMS across different instructional modalities, including asynchronous, synchronous, bichronous, hybrid, and in-person formats.

This user guide assumes basic knowledge of navigating to the appropriate scheduling page. View instructions on navigating to the Maintain Schedule of Classes page for more information.

To determine whether a class is APDB Learning Mode 03/04/11 or 05/06, consider whether the in-person meetings are non-instructional or instructional. Per IPEDS, non-instructional meeting examples include: orientation, testing, academic support, practicum, residency, internship, etc.

IMPORTANT: Run the Learning Mode and Space Type query to verify that these two fields are accurate before the schedule goes live. Read more about MyQueries for Class Schedule Data.
