How to Determine the Term Code

This article covers how to determine the Term Code for each semester/term.

About Term Codes

Term Codes are four digit numbers that represent a specific term/semester. They are used most often for the campus schedule of classes in PeopleSoft/CMS, but there are other locations where you might see the Term Code (2227) instead of the name of the semester (Fall 2022).

To determine the Term Code:

  • The first digit represents the century (e.g., 2)
  • The next two digits represent the year (e.g., 22)
  • The final digit represents the specific semester:
    • 1 = winter (aka intersession)
    • 3 = spring
    • 5 = summer
    • 7 = fall

For example, in 2022:

  • 2221 = Winter 2022
  • 2223 = Spring 2022
  • 2225 = Summer 2022
  • 2227 = Fall 2022
