Viewing and Managing Student Service Indicators (Holds)
This guide goes over how users with the appropriate security permissions can view, add, and release student service indicators (in some cases referred to as holds.)
1. Log in to the campus portal and access Student Administration (Campus Solutions) in Titan Online.
2. Click on the compass icon to open the NavBar. Then, click Menu for more options. From the Menu, select Campus Community.
- Open the NavBar by clicking on the compass icon.
- Click on the Menu tile to view more options.
- Select Campus Community.
5. Enter the CWID of the student that you want to view and/or manage service indicators for. Select the student's Academic Career from the drop-down menu. If you don't have the student's CWID, you can search for them by name. Click Search.
- Enter the student's CWID in the Empl ID field to search by CWID.
- The Academic Career field defaults to Undergraduate. You may have to adjust this if you're searching for a Postbaccalaureate or Extended Education student. If you don't know the academic career of the student you're searching for, you can select the blank field.
- If you don't know the student's CWID, you can search for the student by name.
- Click Search.
7. View service indicator information including reason, description, effective period, assignment details, and contact information.
- View basic information about the service indicator, such as the reason and description.
- The Release button will be visible if you have the authority to remove the service indicator. If you do not have the appropriate permissions to release the service indicator, the button will not be available.
- The Effective Period section shows start and end terms and dates of the service indicator, if provided.
- Assignment Details shows which department has authority (i.e., can release) the service indicator. Under Contact Information, you can find who placed the service indicator, as well as a contact person, if provided.
- Review comments, if any were submitted by the department.
- The Services Impacted section specifies how the service indicator affects the student. Common examples include: Allow drop only; no add activity, Stop transcript generation, No diploma.
1. Access the service indicator that you want to release.
2. Click the Release button.
You can only release service indicators that were placed by departments that you have access to. For example, a graduate advisor in Biology would likely be able to release an advising hold for their master's student, but wouldn't be able to remove a payment hold placed by Student Business Services.
If you should be able to remove service indicators but aren't able to, submit a Campus Solutions Access Request Form. You will need to specify which service indicator(s) you need access to release. View instructions on submitting a Campus Solutions Access Request Form.
1. Navigate to the Manage Service Indicators page and search for the student that you will be adding a service indicator to.
3. Click the Service Indicator Code magnifying glass. A pop-up display will open. Click the service indicator that you want to add to the student's account.
- Click the magnifying glass next to the Service Indicator Code field to open the Look Up Service Indicator Code prompt.
- Select a service indicator to add.
4. Click the Reason magnifying glass. A pop-up display will open. Select the relevant service indicator Reason.
For some Service Indicator Codes, the Reason automatically populates after making your selection in the previous step. You may skip this step if that is the case.
If the Reason does not autopopulate, then you must select one.
- Click the magnifying glass next to the Reason field to open the Look Up Reason prompt.
- Select a reason to add.
5. (OPTIONAL) You may provide additional information such as Effective Period, Assignment Details, Contact Information, and Comments.
Some of the information in these sections will already be filled out. Department will autopopulate after a reason is selected and the Placed Person ID and Placed By fields default to your CWID and name.
- In the Effective Period block, you can add information about the hold Start/End Term by using the magnifying glass look up feature. Alternatively, you can add Start/End Date information by clicking the calendar icon and selecting dates from the calendar.
- In the Assignment Details block, you can add Reference and Amount details if you need to identify an additional reference for the service indicator or if there is a charge associated with the hold.
- In Contact Information, you can provide a Contact Person, if different from yourself. Click the magnifying glass to select an individual to add.
- You may add any relevant notes in the Comment box.
