This article covers how faculty, staff, and students can interpret the sections of the Titan Degree Audit (TDA).
Choose which TDA type you are viewing:
Overview of TDA components
Generally the undergraduate student TDA consists of the following sections (click on a link below to jump to that section in this guide):
Report Heading
The Report Heading shows important information such as major, degree catalog year, and anticipated graduation date.
Graphs and pie chart
These charts and graphs are a visual representation of a student's progress towards degree requirements.
Course History graph and table
Click on the Course History tab to view a graph and table of courses taken.
Course History bar graph
The Course History bar graph shows the number of units that were completed in each semester along with a line indicating the GPA for each semester.
If you hover your mouse over the bar graph, the exact number represented in the graph will display.
If you click on a semester, the Course History table below the graph will filter to show just that one semester's courses.
Titan Degree Audit Overview and General Education Requirements
Final Evaluation, Grad Checkout, Contacts, and Legend
- If there are unfulfilled requirements, you will see a notation at the top of the body of the TDA.
- Final Evaluation will show the status of the evaluation of transfer coursework (if applicable). This section will also show the student's Grad Checkout Status when applicable.
- Contact information for the Admissions & Records Evaluations Unit is listed if you find any errors on the TDA.
- The Legend shows the symbols that are used throughout the TDA.
General Education Program
This section consists of the General Education requirements, starting with the Core Competencies. There are symbols next to each requirement indicating whether the requirement is complete, planned, in progress, or unfulfilled (the Legend is at the bottom of the TDA). When a requirement has been met, the course that met the requirement is listed along with the grade received. Where the requirement has not been met, a list of eligible courses appears.
Click on an eligible course to learn more about it.
Note that the planned courses will not appear unless the student has used Titan Degree Planner to plan their courses AND the Show Planned Courses option was selected when the TDA was run.
Note that if a transfer course met a GE requirement, the transfer school will show along with the course title. For articulated classes, the CSUF course title will show.
View eligible course details
When you click on a course that meets a specific requirement, the university catalog details for the course appear in a new window. You can also print the details.
In Progress Courses
Courses that are in progress are shown as IP.
General Education Summary
At the end of the GE section is a summary of the units needed to meet general education requirements and how many units have been earned so far.
Titan Degree Audit Major Requirements
The list of major requirements varies per program. Most include the following course types:
- Core
- Required Concentration Courses
- Concentration Electives
GPA and Core Requirements
- All majors have a minimum grade point average requirement.
- In this major, Computer Engineering, there are Foundation Courses, Core Requirements, and Technical Electives.
GPA of Attempted Major Courses
At the end of the major requirements, the latest units earned and GPA summary will display.
Upper Division Writing Requirement
NOTE: Effective May 25, 2012, undergraduate students are no longer required to take the EWP for their baccalaureate degree. Only graduate students whose program requires the EWP must take this exam.
The Upper Division Writing Requirement is specific to each major.
Courses Not Specifically Applied to Above Requirements
If the student has completed courses that are not specifically applied to GE or major requirements, they will be listed in this section as either counting towards the degree or no degree credit.
Summary of Units
The Summary of Units section provides overall information on unit and GPA requirements.
- Unit Requirements indicates units earned at CSUF, CSUF GPA, upper division units earned, residence upper division units earned, and major residence upper division units earned.
- Transfer Institution Totals indicates units earned and GPA from all of your transfer institutions (if applicable).
Cumulative Units, Cumulative GPA, Academic Standing and Coursework
- Cumulative Number of Units indicates the most current total number of units earned that are applicable to the undergraduate degree.
- Cumulative GPA indicates the most current GPA for all attempted units applicable to the undergraduate degree.
- Academic Standing indicates the student's academic standing for each semester.
- Coursework provides a historical listing of courses completed at other institutions and all courses enrolled in and/or completed at CSUF by semester.
- Note for each semester, the student's academic standing is listed.
Overview of TDA components
Generally the graduate student TDA consists of the following sections (click on a link below to jump to that section in this guide):
Report Heading
The Report Heading shows important information such as major, degree catalog year, and anticipated graduation date.
Graphs and pie chart
The “TDA Total Units Earned” pie chart and the “GPA” bar graph (figures on the left) indicate the units and GPA of the grad student’s Study Plan courses. The “Summary of Units” bar (figure on the right) indicates the number of graded units that a student earned while enrolled in the current program. Consequently, the “TDA- Total Unites Earned” pie chart and the “Summary of Units” bar graph may indicate different numbers.
Titan Degree Audit Overview and Student Standing/Degree Checkout
- If there are unfulfilled requirements, you will see a notation at the top of the body of the TDA.
- Contact your graduate advisor if you have any questions about the TDA or find any errors.
- The Legend shows the symbols that are used throughout the TDA.
- Student Standing/Grad Checkout Status will show if a graduate student has been classified and their graduate degree checkout status once applicable.
Study Plan Courses
This section consists of the degree requirements, starting with the Required Courses. Study Plans will vary by degree, but generally they are 30 units total. In the above example, 27 units are listed as Required Courses and 3 units are listed as Culminating Experience.
Study Plan GPA Requirement and Graduate GPA Requirement
A grade-point average (grade points divided by units attempted) of at least 3.0 is required for graduation with a graduate degree. This grade-point average applies to 1) all 400-, 500- and 600-level units attempted subsequent to admission to a degree program; and 2) all units required on the graduate Study Plan including transfer courses.
Resident Units Requirement, Minimum Graded Unit Requirement, and Time Limit for Completion
- Resident Units Requirement will list the courses/units that the student has completed (or is in progress) towards this requirement.
- Minimum Graded Unit Requirement will list the courses/units that the student has completed (or is in progress) towards this requirement.
- Time Limit for Completion is a reminder that all requirements should be completed within five years starting from the semester of the earliest course on the student's Study Plan.
Coursework
Coursework provides a historical listing of all courses enrolled in and/or completed at CSUF by semester along with the grade, units earned, and GPA.
