Success Markers

Success Markers are courses or course groups designated by the campus that represent key milestones within an academic program. Completion of a success marker entails earning a minimum grade within a specific timeframe.

Success Markers section
  1. The radio buttons indicate what type of Success Marker is being viewed. Completed Success Markers are courses that have been completed with a sufficient grade within the recommended timeframe. Missing Success Markers are courses in which the student received a grade below the recommended threshold or courses that the student has not registered for. Success Markers may be marked as Upcoming if: (1) the course is in progress and no grade has been assigned yet, (2) the student’s total earned credits falls within the recommended credit timing for that success marker, or (3) the student has not yet earned enough credits for the success marker to apply to them.
  2. Click on a course name to view more detail about what course(s), grade(s), and credit timing is included in the success marker.
  3. Click Attempt in the Outcome column to view information about the student's registration and grade history of the course.
  4. Click the pencil icon to disable or re-enable notifications for the Success Marker.

The GPA Trends by Term charts the student's GPA over their duration at CSUF. If a student did not enroll during a particular semester, that semester will not be included in the chart.

GPA trends chart
  1. The legend shows what each colored line represents. The Term GPA data points show the student's GPA for each semester. The Cumulative GPA averages all semester GPAs. The Institutional GPA shows the average of grades earned in courses taken at CSUF. If a student does not have any transfer credits, the Institutional GPA will not be displayed. You can click on a GPA to remove it from the chart display.
  2. Hover over a data point to view exact GPA values.

The Credit Trends by Term chart visualizes the student’s credit accumulation over time. If a student did not enroll during a particular semester, that semester will not be included in the chart.

Credit trends chart and table
  1. The legend shows what each color represents. Total Credits Earned is tracked by the light blue line and shows how many credits the student has earned up to that point. Note that this figure does not denote whether or not these credits apply toward the degree. The dark blue column shows Credits Earned in a particular semester. The grey column shows Credits Attempted in a particular semester. You can click on a variable in the legend to remove it from the chart display.
  2. Hover over a data point to view more information.
  3. GPA and credit trend data is compiled in tabular format at the bottom of the page.
