Course Under-Enrolled Report

This article covers how to run and interpret the Course Under-Enrolled report on the Course Enrollments dashboard.

What does this report show?

The Course Under-Enrolled report shows detailed information of courses who are enrolling on a course. Report can be filtered by college, department, term and course component. The department values in the filter are cascaded from the college. The report has 3 different views: Table, Enrolled Vs Capacity Count, and Percentage Enrolled. In the table, the class information along with enrollment capacity, student enrollment count, percentage enrolled, and the class status are displayed. The user can navigate to the class detail information by clicking on Class Number. In the Enrollment Vs. Capacity Count graph, the comparison between enrollment and capacity count measures are shown in a bar chart. The user can filter for different departments. In the Percentage Enrolled graph, the enrollment percentage is a bar chart is show. The user can filter for different departments.

Report Overview

When you access the report, your personal filters/settings for the dashboard/report appear. If you have not set up your personal filters, the system defaults will automatically populate.

Report Filters

The first section of the report contains the available filters. Utilize the filters to narrow down your report results or find specific values.

1. Click on the Controls section to expand the filters.

2. Make your selections for each filter as necessary.

Filter Descriptions
Filter Description
Term The specific semester/session for which you want to view data.
College The college(s) you want to include on the report.
Department The department(s) you want to include in the report. The values in the Department column are filtered based on the College value, so when you choose a College, you will only see Departments that are in that College.
Course Component The type of course (e.g., lecture, discussion, laboratory, etc.).
View By Choose to view the data as a table, enrolled vs capacity count chart, or percentage enrolled chart.
2.1. If you choose to view by Enrolled Vs Capacity Count or Percentage Enrolled, you will need to specify a Department if you did not already.

Reading the Charts

Enrolled Vs Capacity Count Chart

The Enrolled Vs Capacity Count chart shows each course section in the selected department and the student enrollment count and enrollment capacity of each.

Note that the chart will show a maximum of 50 course sections. To view all of the course sections that match your filters, view the table.

Course Waitlist Graph

Hover your mouse over each portion of each bar to see the specific counts/capacity.

Percentage Enrolled Chart

The Percentage Enrolled chart shows each course section in the selected department and the percentage enrolled for each.

Note that the chart will show a maximum of 50 course sections. To view all of the course sections that match your filters, view the table.

Reading the Table

The Course Under-Enrolled table shows each course section along with the enrollment capacity, waitlisted student enrollment count, and percentage enrolled.

Additional Detail

You can view Class Detail for each course section.

1. Click on a Class Number in the table to view additional detail.

2. Select Class Detail.

Access Enrollment By Academic Group Detail

3. The Class Detail will open in the same browser tab/window. You can now review the details for the selected course section.

Note that you will need to use the horizontal scroll bar below the table to view all of the available data.

4. To return to the main report, click on the double left arrow button until you see the Course Under-Enrolled tab.
